College, the place we strive for during our +1 and +2. We spend sleepless nights just to get that higher rank to get you into a good college. We assume that our hard work would pay rich dividends. Work now, enjoy hard in college.
When you think about college, you get this cool image of a group of guys and girls hanging out together. A class- who attends classes in college, haven’t you heard of bunks, we are told. Moreover, if you are an American pie fan, you think of hot chicks, unlimited booze and ineffable parties. Ain’t it a pretty picture? That’s what I had in mind before I entered UIET.
Life at UIET has been a reality check for me. What I’ve experienced in college cannot be farther than the image of a college I had in mind. Lemme clarify all the illusions on by one.
Guys and girls hanging out together – Huh!? I m in mechanical dude, with any luck, I’ll graduate without becoming a homosexual. It’s not just mechanical; the sex ratio over here is very “unfortunate” for guys. Moreover, the girls over here are either bhenjis or double standard bitches.
Classes – Yeah, we do bunk classes. Our class has probably the most no. of bunks to its name. Even the teachers bunk classes here. That’s probably the best thing in my life at UIET. With a whole class of guys, do you really expect any objections from anyone.
Hot Chicks – Err… Didn’t I just mention the pitiable state of womanhood in UIET. There are a few gals that you would categorize as hot, but it’s like finding a needle in a haystack.
Booze – Yeah, we definitely have daroo parties but hold on, they don’t take place in some fancy pub or bar, instead hostel rooms are the hot spots for the daroo parties. Election season, end of exams, birthdays – these are the occasions when guys booze. Guys drink more than they can handle, get high and then comes the sentimental bullshit in the inebriated condition. Liquor can really bring out the emotions, even in the most macho guys. Oh, and yeah, it can bring out their dinner and lunch too.
Parties – The only parties here are birthday parties and political parties. PUSU, SOPU, INSO – all of them unite during election season to politicize the minds of innocent freshmen (well some of them are not so innocent). Even with Lyngdoh, don’t expect the politics at the campus to stop. It’ll be as hot as ever.
That’s how my college dream has been shattered. My UIET experience.
